I am excited to have a garden again. I am taking a class from a very knowledgeable home gardener. He recommended fertilizing established trees and flowers while the snow is still on the ground. He also had a recommended recipe for the soil in this area. Today I went to Walmart and HomeDepot and purchased the three items (I think they are the three he mentioned.)
- Miracle Grow(Azalia feed or bloom booster)
- Ironite
- Amonium Sulfate
I would like to disc or roto till up another section of my yard for a second garden (since the watering and planting cycles are different) but with the sprinkler system, it would be a lot of work, maybe I will plan a family activity in April...

Good idea to post what you do this year - if it pays off, you can do it again. If your veggies are punt, back to the drawing board I guess.
It rained and snowed after I fertilized, perfect timing!
I love that you two are already doing stuff! I want to start in March too- we should go in on seeds together. Wanna have a seed meeting?
If she has the baby when she's due, it is going to be rough in March to plant a garden, so I am trying to get set up now so I can still garden with a new baby in the house. Seed party sounds great, also let me know if you want some fertilizer since we got plenty (like a 7 year supply!) I hope I didn't over fertilize, the spreader didn't work so well with the ironite.
Ambitious and planning ahead - a good combination. Can't wait to see it!
Update, I got the 16-16-8 garden fertilizer and dissolving pelleted sulfur so we are good for the garden. I didn't plant anything in the peat pellets but I think we will this week for the summer garden.
